Privacy Policy

Our Commitment
Solvi is built on a simple principle: your data belongs to you. We don't operate data-collection servers. We don't store your conversations. We don't have access to your API keys or personal information.
However, Solvi is not an offline app. When you send a message, your conversation is transmitted to the cloud AI provider you've selected (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google) using the API key or account you've configured. We have no control over how those providers handle your data once it reaches them. Each provider has their own privacy policy, data retention rules, and terms of service.
This policy explains exactly what stays on your device, what leaves it, and who receives it — with no legalese hedging.
Data That Stays on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device and is never sent to Solvi's servers (though some of it may be included in messages sent to your chosen AI provider — see "Data Sent to AI Providers" below):
- Conversations: All chat history is stored in an on-device SQLite database. We cannot access it. Note: your conversations are also sent to your chosen AI provider when you chat — they may retain or process that data under their own policies (see "Data Sent to AI Providers" below).
- API Keys: Stored in your device's secure Keychain (iOS) or Keystore (Android). Never transmitted to us.
- Memory & Knowledge: Your assistant's learned context — preferences, facts, ongoing projects — is stored on your device by default. If you enable Cloud Sync, this data is also stored in the cloud storage account you specify, encrypted end-to-end. Solvi does not have access to it in either case.
- Tool Results: Calendar entries, contacts, photos, and location data accessed by Solvi's tools never leave your device through us.
Data Sent to AI Providers
This is the most important section of this policy.
Every time you send a message in Solvi, your conversation — including any context the assistant needs to respond (prior messages, memory excerpts, tool results like calendar entries or location data) — is sent to the cloud AI provider you've configured. This is how the app works: the AI models run in the cloud, not on your phone.
These API calls go directly from your device to the provider. Solvi does not proxy, intercept, store, or log these calls. We never see the content of your conversations.
However, once your data reaches the AI provider, it is subject to their policies, not ours. Different providers have different rules about data retention, model training, and storage. Some providers may retain your conversations; others may not. Some may use API data for model training; others explicitly don't. It is your responsibility to review and understand the privacy policy of the provider you choose.
Supported providers and their privacy policies:
If you use a custom or self-hosted endpoint (such as Ollama running locally), your data stays within whatever infrastructure you've configured. Solvi does not add any intermediary.
Data Shared with Third-Party Services
Solvi uses the following third-party services that may receive limited data:
Firebase App Distribution (Google)
During the beta testing period, Solvi uses Firebase App Distribution to deliver pre-release builds to testers. When you install a beta build, Firebase may collect:
- Device model and operating system version
- App version and build identifiers
- Your email address (used to invite you as a tester)
- Firebase installation ID (a per-device identifier)
This data is processed by Google in accordance with the Firebase Data Processing and Security Terms. Firebase data may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where Google maintains facilities.
Firebase Crashlytics (Google)
If enabled, Crashlytics collects crash reports to help us fix bugs. This includes:
- Stack traces and crash logs (no personal conversation data)
- Device state at time of crash (memory, battery, orientation)
- Device model and OS version
- A Crashlytics installation UUID
Crashlytics does not collect the content of your conversations, API keys, or any data from device tools (calendar, contacts, etc.).
Cloud Sync (Optional)
If you choose to enable Cloud Sync, your data is encrypted end-to-end before leaving your device. We cannot read, access, or decrypt your synced data. The encryption keys are derived from your device and never shared with us.
Cloud Sync is disabled by default. You can delete all synced data at any time.
Advertising & Tracking
Solvi contains no ads, no advertising SDKs, and no user tracking. We do not use advertising identifiers, fingerprinting, or behavioral analytics. We do not sell, share, or monetize your data.
Device Permissions
Solvi may request access to device capabilities (camera, contacts, calendar, location, reminders, microphone) to power its tool system. Each permission is:
- Requested only when a specific tool needs it
- Explained before you grant it
- Revocable at any time through your device's Settings
- Never used for any purpose other than the specific tool function you invoked
Children's Privacy
Solvi is rated 17+ and is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect information from children. In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we do not invite or permit users under the applicable age of consent to use the app or participate in beta testing.
International Data Transfers
If you are located in the European Union, European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, please be aware that data shared with third-party services (such as Firebase and AI providers) may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where these providers operate. The privacy and data protection laws in these countries may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
By using Solvi and opting into features that share data with these providers, you consent to such transfer, storage, and processing.
Data Deletion
Since most data is stored on your device, you have complete control:
- Delete individual conversations from within the app
- Clear all app data from your device's Settings
- Uninstall the app to remove all locally stored data
- Delete Cloud Sync data independently if enabled
- Request deletion of any Firebase-held data by contacting us
Open Source Transparency
Solvi is open source. You can audit the complete source code on GitHub to verify every claim in this privacy policy. Privacy claims should be verifiable, not just stated.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, we will post the changes here and update the "Last updated" date. For material changes, we will notify users through an in-app notice.
